.::Happy Valentine's Day::.
.::Happy Valentine's Day::.
"Saint Valentine's Day, commonly shortened to Valentine's Day,[1][2][3] is an annual commemoration held on February 14 celebrating love and affectionbetween intimate companions.[1][3] The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs, Saint Valentine, and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 496 AD." - Wikipedia
As a muslim myself, I am not encouraged to celebrate events that is not significant to my religion. It might portray a lack of faith in Islam or some kind of betrayal by showing a certain interest or passion towards another religion's religious observance other than Islam.
Despite being personally obligated not to celebrate said Valentine's day, as a peace-loving Singapore citizen in a multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-religious nation, just for the sake of love and friendship, I'd like to wish everyone a very sweet sweet Valentine's day.
Another popular issue of V-day, not related to religion, is relationship status. Most people who celebrate V-day are those who are in love. This creates a social inferiority towards those who are single.
I remember the days when I was a single teenager in poly, secretly wishing that on that day some shy guy would muster up the guts to admit his secret admiration for me and show me his affection by presenting me a cheap handmade paper flower that seems to be on sale everywhere on campus grounds and then I would be in a relationship and we would be happy forever. I know...LOL right? I was eighteen. Pfft! A lonely girl could dream.
Anyhoo...back to the topic.
So to avoid being singled out, single individuals in the community would commemorate friendship on this day instead of acknowledging it as a day strictly for couples only, it is also known as a day of friendship in the Mexico, Central and South America. Around the world, people in Asia, Europe, Japan, India and the Middle East celebrate it in different ways but most have the same objective, which is to celebrate love and friendship. Love makes the world go round. (Or is it money? LOL)
Now this lonely girl has someone to love and who loves her sincerely and affectionately, for five lovely years and counting.
Awww...
And after all these time, our love has blossomed beyond materialistic items of affection. Flowers, chocolates and gifts have phased out. One reason is, those shayts are darn expensive in Singapore on this bloody V-day! So why waste money? Another reason is, we simply grew out of them. We are in love every day and this day has rather lost its special feeling compared to 5 years ago when we just started out.
Further more, living in a very over-crowded little red dot of 5.7 million people in population and very little source of entertainment for middle-class folks, our choices become very limited. This year is our 5th Valentines together and we are not going to bother making any sort of dinner reservation on the 14th February 2011, knowing that EVERY darn couple in the island has the same boring and cheap idea. I know, I'm bitter but it's the cold hard truth. Every couple will be out there, in every restaurant, every movie theater, on every park bench, which makes everywhere crowded and scoring a zero in the "romantic ambiance" meter. I just can't wait to get married and buy a house. Then me and my partner can have a quiet romantic dinner and watch cable television in our own peaceful, personal space. But things like that don't just happen overnight. (I think I'd be thirty years old by then. Yikes!)
To my special someone, Happy V-day baby, I feel blessed to have you. Alhamdulillah.

.::Friday Movie Date Was A Time Warp Bug::.
No, I haven't gotten any honey out of a bear bottle on a toast. It's just me, thinking about yummy food when I'm sad. That's why I'm not fat. I simply THINK of food. I don't put it in my mouth. Good eh?
Speaking about food, I spent the whole day today absent-mindedly not thinking about eating!
I ate 3 red bean pau for breakfast and spent the rest of the day copped up in my bedroom emailing out resumes. And then set off to meet my dear for the dinner and movie at Bugis Junction.
After dear bought the tickets, we had an hour to burn so we had a filling dinner at Tong Seng.
When the food came, only then it struck me. I hadn't eaten any proper meals the whole day.
Why the post title you might wonder? Note the words in bold.
Friday movie date was The Rite. Awesome 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Though I lost 10 minutes of it because nature called. Sorry dear.
After I saw that pregnant lady miscarriage and die, somehow my bowels over-reacted. Heh...
The movie was 114 minutes long. It was 9.15pm when we left the cineplex. And then we fell into a time warp. I think it was more of a time bug. Because we felt time sped up ten-fold after that!
Dear and I had coffee nearby and then decided to take a leisurely stroll. We passed by Raffles Shopping Center and then dear thought strangely, 'How come all the stores are closed?'. That's when I glanced at my watch and announced to his disbelieving face that it was already 11pm! And our quality time is over! Time to go home already! Why??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tho I came home to another movie treat. Watched '10 Promises I Made To My Dog' with my sister. It's in Japanese with English subtitles and I used up a handful of tissues. It really really makes you cry!
I gotta rest my tear ducts now before I wake up with puffy eyes.
That's all for today.

.::Sigh::.
.::Sigh::.
My life has become mundane since I signed up to be a full-time hobo when I turned down that job offer in September 2010. Been jobless, cashless, hopeless, lifeless and all alone till now.
But no point wallowing in self-pity. It could have been a bad choice or a good choice. I would still not know that. Only Allah knows. And I believe HE only knows the best for me.
Even though all I can think about is the near SGD 10,000 opportunity that I gave up on. I really should stop thinking about it. It just wasn't mine and not meant to be.
Now all I can think about is some comforting toast and honey in a bear bottle. Yummie!

.::Shortie Quickie::.
.::Shortie Quickie::.
Just came back from a short quickie dinner date night with hunny.
I just wanna complain a bit that I feel so tired and breathless.
Was it the Pastamania dinner?
Was it the air pollution coz we sat by the river for a bit?
Was it the walk from the esplanade through City Link Mall towards City Hall mrt station?
Was it my shoes?
I am usually never this tired ever.
Well hunny looked fatigued. That's reasonable coz he's been working all day. But me? I woke up at 11:30am to watch Spongebob Squarepants and I've been sitting at home all day long and the only hard work I did was getting ready to go out to meet Hazril; putting on make up and hot curling my hair for an hour.
By the way I just found out that Capitol is now closed. Think they want to demolish the place. So sad. We had planned to eat at Sakura Cuisine.
And I don't know why I had the sudden urge to blog after so long. Now I got to find a new blog skin. And then it's good night. I even told my boyfriend not to call me tonight. I can see his tired face in my head now. Anyway I'm too tired to pick up the phone which is right beside me right now.
Ok bye.

.::Old Movies' Night::.
.::Old Movies' Night::.
In the spirit of the long holiday, I'm in a mood for a movie marathon tonight! Even though CSCI 319 Assignment has been out since last night, I haven't gotten to doing it yet. I'll start tomorrow.
Picked out about 10 DVDs from my father's collection over the past few years. Here are the titles of some of my favourites ranked in priority of viewing:
1) National Treasure 1 (Starring Nicholas Cage)
2) Sherlock Homes (Starring RDJ)
3) Night at the Museum 2 - Battle of the Smithsonian (Starring Ben Stiller)
4) Shrek 2 (Starring Mike Myers)
5) The Dark Night (Starring Christian Bale)
6) Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Starring Shia LaBeof)
7) The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Starring Elijah Wood)
8) Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End (Starring Johnny Depp)
9) A Christmas Carol (Starring Jim Carrey)
Frankly at this moment, I'm not sure if I'll be able to survive even one movie without dozing off. I had a tiring Saturday of doing nothing today. My Orchard Road walkabout with my parents turned out to be a no-show. But it's alright. I had fun doing nothing but flipping through the cable channels and eating a lot today.
Better get to movie #1 before the weekend is over! :)

.::Movie Spoilers In a Nutshell::.

Iron Man 2 -
I love it no matter what. I'm a geek type of girl. I love gadgets and men who are capable to science and innovation. RDJ is hawt hawt hawt i tell ya. Deal with it. Pepper is annoying. SJ is sexy when she fights.
Shrek Forever After -
Script contains plenty of humour, story line has a twist, lovely ending, sad parts here and there adds spice to all the fun, the music is awesome. Or maybe the piped-piper switched to "Junida". Hahaha...could it be?
Niyang Rapik -
Ghosts makeup is scary and disgusting, story line is full of suspense despite my head constantly guessing the ending, which is somewhat undeniably predictable.
Last Song -
Haven't watched yet. Maybe next week. So stay tuned.
Toy Story -
Coming June 17 2010. Must watch with my brother. Probably with my cousins from Perth as well. They'll be in Singapore for a few weeks.
That's all for now. I'm going to bed! Zzzz...

Whoa! Am I good or what? I've finished my CSCI368 Assignment of TCP Toy Kerberos.
I can spend my weekend in peace. Tomorrow, if the weather is good, I'm accompanying my parents to Orchard Road. They haven't gone sight-seeing there in a long time. So I'll be their tour guide for the day. My dad specifically wanted to go into ION. I hope we'll have fun.

Tweet news? None at the moment. Been busy finishing up my CSCI368 assignment and going out.
FB news? Haven't logged-in in 3 days. "Merajuk ke ape?"...Well 50%.
Today is Vesak Day on Friday and I'm watching Kimora Life in the Fab Lane on E with my laptop on my lap. Going on my assignment on and off. It is a public holiday and in my world there is no need to concentrate on anything. Relax and chill and lay back.

To Tweet or not to Tweet
To Tweet or not to Tweet
Twitter is the ti-ti-di-ti-di (thing to do to day)
I'm thinking of twittering. And I am thinking of abandoning FB.
My FB is so boring. There's hardly anything to update about. My life's not that awesome. I have 247 "friends" to date. 247 "friends" who don't care about me. FB is starting to become a meaningless void to my life. Every status update is insignificant to others because there ARE no others in my life. My bf just writes loads of crap on his FB status. You wanna know the real reason though?
No? Okay...
What? Oh very well...
It's the recent issue that has been bothering me in my mind and causing insomnia attacks on my beauty sleep last night. This girl who created her third FB profile and for the SECOND time adds my boyfriend, his sister, his sister-in-law, his 4-yr-old niece FIRST! AND UNTIL NOW HAVEN'T ADDED ME! So-called friend! The best part is that she doesn't even know my boyfriend's sister, sister-in-law and niece! Urgh! Double standard! I hate this so much! I'm more unhappy that my boyfriend didn't even tell me about it and until now is being so oblivious about the fact that his girlfriend feels so jealous and ignored. So I kept this to myself but it's eating me up inside. One day it will empty my insides and turn me into an empty soul-less hard shell.
My blog is so unreachable. Why? The textbox is so spacious that I cannot resist writting about my whole day within a single entry. Just basic long-winded petty rantings. And also basically nobody reads my posts. So I'm too lazy to make the effort. You know what I mean?
Where I am in life now, is a swirl of nothingness floating above a black hole.
So if I twitter, what shall I twitter about? I'm also considering to promote my blog with adds and whatnots. Still under research.
